Carseldine Winter 2020

Superb Starting Season As Carseldine Grows

The fields at Carseldine lit up with Kick It Touch Footy for the first time since late 2018 and the start of the Queensland Government’s Urban Village project.

Our Monday night competition showcased some outstanding talent while epitomising the fun and social atmosphere at our venues

In the mixed competition, The Boodz took out a hotly competitive final defeating Troopers 7-6.

Despite notching up the first points to Denzel English, it was Troopers who raced to an early 3-1 lead.

Migally Shaw crossed off a crisp cut-out ball from Ryan Harris, while Chloe Storm extended her side’s lead just minutes later.

With the momentum firmly with Troopers, it took multiple repeat sets and a slicing run from Kieran English to stop the rot.

Mya Brown crossed for a two pointer on the stroke of halftime to see The Boodz take a 4-3 lead at the break.

As both teams returned to the field, there was a sense the match would go down to the wire.

We weren’t short changed in attack as the defensive lines of both sides began to crack.

Jason West got his side on the board first to level the scores at 4-4.

The Boodz hit back in a strong four-minute burst that featured tries to Rhikki Nanu and a second to Kieran English.

The reply was swift as Rep star Corey Pocock latching onto a long-range grubber to score.

Boodz captain and North Brisbane Sharks Representative Shaun Rees jumped over for his first in the dying stages.

Troopers general Clint Wicks notched up a late consolation try to bridge the gap, but it wasn’t enough.

A battle of the two heavy weights, top of the table SFX took on Deep Water Bender Boys in a competitive mens final on Monday.

The Carseldine foes re-ignited their rivalry with SFX claiming victory in the two previous fixtures between the two teams.

Player of the Match Michael Molo got his side’s first points as he glided through some broken defence.

A staple of both offences was on show as both teams traded a series of ruck and splits when attacking their opponent’s goal line.

Deep Water Bender Boys found some space as Issac Luke dived over untouched to make it 2-0.

SFX were their own worst enemy with a host of missed attacking chances and unforced errors.

Despite playing with just seven players and no subs, the Bender Boys soaked up the momentum and field possession. It eventually came to an end.

SFX Youngster James got his side on the board as he chased a sharp kick.

The hit back was swift with Deep Water captain Clinton Kerei notching up his side’s third try leading into half time.

The second half started the same as the first with Michael Molo crossing for his second try to extend the lead to 4-1.

Some exciting end to end footy saw both teams with try scoring chances as time ticked away.

A much improved and simplified attack from SFX proved fruitful with Michael diving over for his first try of the match.

Deep Water Bender Boys responded in kind with a try of their own to ice the popular win.

Stafford Winter Season

Ballerz, P-Dub succeed in 2020 Stafford Winter Season

Stafford Mixed

Ballerz have won their third mixed division title in a row with a hard fought 7-4 win over One Kick Wonders on Wednesday.

The experience of the Ballerz’ core group of players proved the difference as they overcame a fast-start by One Kick Wonder’s Rep players.

Corey Pocock starred for his green and white team as he crossed for three tries, including the first inside the opening five minutes.

Newly crowned Sharks Rep player Mason Hasselmeyer also proved pivotal in the middle as a link man in attack.

The onslaught was quickly nullified with two quick tries to Sharks Mens coach Ben Hayes.

The return of former Rep captain Jess Sleep helped sure up the middle and gift Hayes his second try in three minutes with a spilt on the goal line.

They extended their lead shortly after with Ballerz captain Jake Coolwell crossing to end the half.

The momentum remained with the reigning champions to start the half with Coolwell setting up Zac Jane for his first try.

Pocock nabbed his third try in a swift hit back on a long-range grubber to himself.

As both teams began to show signs of fatigue, a critical professional foul penalty was awarded Ballerz way after Ben Hayes was contacted in a try scoring situation.

The call would result in One Kick Wonders playing a man down for five sets.

Despite the disadvantage, the challengers would remain strong and withstand Ballerz’ first attacking set.

The six-player attack of One Kick Wonders would force a surprise repeat set to soak up some time with the ball.

A poor end of set gifted Ballerz with great field position and some momentum as they capitalised through Jeff O’Connor to extend their side’s lead to 5-3.

The return to seven players on the field saw Corey Pocock spring to life as he sent Mason Hasselmeyer over for his first points.

Jake Coolwell quickly hit back before Jeff O’Conner crossed for his second in the dying stages to ice the win.

Stafford Mens – Division 1

P-Dub have overcome long-time rivals Joeys in a fast-paced Mens final.

Sharks Rep speedster Sam Gadsby broke the game wide open inside the first five minutes with a try and an assist to set up Luke Murray.

The red-hot P-Dub side would extend their lead to three at the 10-minute mark through Gadsby to open up Joeys biggest deficit of the season.

The head-strong boys in purple bounced back through Matthew Allen after some honest words in the moments leading up to it.

Rookie Matt Beard crossed for Joeys second to breath new life into the contest as half time approached.

Prolific try scorer Kyle Foxwell pounced on a short kick to take P-Dub to a 4-2 lead heading into the break.

With both teams constricted in a tight huddle, the match was set up for one of the most competitive second halves to date.

Corey Pocock broke the shackles with a long range grubber to bring the scores to within one.

Some wild end-to-end footy ensured with a battle for the ruck and field possession.

Two-time Rep player Matt O’Brien hit back with a try of his own, before Luke Murray jumped on a fortuitous bounce in the in-goal for P-Dub to scoot out to a 6-3 lead.

Pocock brought the game to within two points with his second try as time became the enemy.

With both teams out on their feet, P-Dub sealed a momentous victory as time elapsed to claim their seventh mens title.

Rep Cup 2020

2020 Rep Cup: Brisbane Teams Announced

The Brisbane teams for the 2020 Rep Cup have been confirmed ahead of the October 18th event.

A host of familiar faces return for the Brisbane Tigers while the North Brisbane Sharks are relatively unchanged from last year’s Rep tournament.

With some rare stability, Sharks team selectors Clint Wicks (mixed) and Ben Hayes (mens) will be hoping to achieve a Sharks’ clean sweep last seen in 2012.

The Taringa-based Brisbane Tigers, lead by prolific try scorers Matt McIver and Eliza Mooney will have plenty of work to do with the biggest roster upheaval since 2017.

The fresh start will be the first step towards improving on last season’s disappointing third (mens) and fourth (mixed) finish.

Tigers Mens. Rep Cup Kickit Touch Football

The Tigers mens team boasts a wealth of Representative and Kick It experience.

2018 Rep stars Matt McIver and Anthony Martin have been included and will lead the side.

Chris Honnery (illness) and Tom Primmer (foot) return to the Rep scene after missing last year’s fixtures.

Primer is coming off an outstanding Autumn season at Taringa where he lead the division 1 competition in both tries (14) and try assists (8).

Aaron Fraser ends his eight-year hiatus from Kick It Rep footy and will make his Tigers debut.

Other Tigers debutants include Bradley Preston (Rampage), Jordan Kropp (Slap Happy) and Jake Harding (New Kicks On The block).

Veterans Aaron Tomoana (pictured) and Corey Smith will make their fifth Rep appearances.

With a key focus on team combos and cohesion, the Tigers will be looking to make their fourth mens finals appearance when October rolls around.

Total caps: 32

Tigers Mixed. Rep Cup Kickit Touch Football

Form, youth and energy shape the Tigers mixed side in 2020.

Experienced girls Eliza Mooney and Tammy Haydock lead a team with attacking ability across the park.
The pair have combined for 31 tries in the past two seasons.

Dugongs’ Tim Mitchell (pictured) makes his return to the Tigers after missing last year with a broken hand. He moves from mens to mixed.

Division 2 top try scorer Caolan Geraghty makes his Rep debut after recording 25 tries in seven games.

Team mates Ethan Menchin and Emmie Folan-Murphy also get their first taste at Representative level.

Division 2 try assist champion Lachlan Brennan will run out with team mate and division 2 try leader Riley Wagner.

Key Kickaholics’ Kirk Barber and Trent Gosser will form an energetic and hard-working middle.

Total caps: 28

Sharks Mens. Rep Cup Kickit Touch Football

Speed and stability will hold the North Brisbane Sharks mens team in good stead after falling short in last year’s final.

In a coup for North Brisbane, they’ve only made three changes in Dean Saxvik, Mason Hasselmeyer and 2018 Shark Will O’Keefe included.

Reigning Stafford try leader Jesse Ripley leads a potent cast of try scorers, closely followed by Sam Gadsby (pictured), Jack Woodbridge and Corey Pocock.

The four have combined for 83 tries over the last two seasons in the mens division.

Experienced men Jai Lockrey and Matthew Allen will command the middle, while Jackson Paton and P-Dub’s Bill Chisholm and Matt O’Brien will play a key supporting role.

Total caps: 30

Sharks Mixed Rep Cup

Top talent and strike stand out for the Sharks this year.

Reigning Stafford mixed champions Ballerz are represented by four players who will form the foundation for the side.

Experienced Troopers team mates Chloe Storm and Cameron Webb will help lock down the edges.

Stafford mixed top try scorer Brayden Barrett will look to use his outstanding connection with Jake Coolwell to the Sharks’ benefit.

The pair have combined for 27 tries and 7 assists through six games this season.

Carseldine mens and mixed top try scorers Jarrod Hunter and Shaun Rees bring some crucial strike to the attack. The duo have totalled 27 tries after six rounds of fixtures.

The Sharks most experienced player Jessica Sleep (pictured) will control a team featuring four debutants including prominent girls Rachel Toohey and Amanda Chilcott.
