North Brisbane Sharks Clean Sweep April Rep Carnival

The North Brisbane Sharks have made a clean sweep of the 2021 Rep Cup in Toowoomba

Victorious for the second consecutive tournament, the Sharks defeated a red-hot Titans and Storm side in the final.

It was the Toowoomba Storm who made their Rep Cup finals debut after starring in the mens. They looked the most likely against their stacked opponent side.

Boasting a plethora of players from the Stafford and Carseldine mens competitions, the form and combinations of the reigning champions placed them in great stead.

Lead by captain Jai Lockrey and vice captain Jayden Turnbull, the pair lead a team that swept the pool rounds as they remained undefeated.

The Storm however, provided to be their biggest adversary.

Lead by star New South Wales representative Alex Mackenzie, the inexperienced team shocked the competition with a blend of direct rucking and traditional touch footy moves.

The undefeated North Brisbane side faced off against their new rivals in a hotly contested final.

Competitiveness was turned right up as the outsiders pushed the reigning champions.

The boot of try-scoring freak Corey Pocock was the difference as he ran in two of his side’s three tries to seal a promising 3-1 victory.

The North Brisbane mixed side have made it three from three with a classic 5-2 win over the Toowoomba Giants.

Comprising of four new faces, the Sharks cruised through the event undefeated before facing their long-time Toowoomba rivals.

The Giants blitz the field onto to fall victim to Brisbane through the pool matches.

Despite missing a number of experienced players, they remained a force thanks to the experience of Kohen Mathiesen.

North Brisbane vice captain Jake Coolwell proved the difference in the final with two tries and an assist, while Ballerz teammate Adriano Gaile crossed for a try of his own.

The teams will do battle once against on September 19th at Taringa with the return leg of the 2021 Rep Cup series.

The North Brisbane side will look to defend their mens and mixed crown in a much more hostile environment – the home of the South West Brisbane Tigers.
