Too Out Of Touch have beaten Slappers 5-4 to claim their maiden Mixed championship at Stafford.

The inexperienced mixed side out classed and outplayed the veteran side in pink.

Representative stars Chris Honnery and Eliza Mooney shored up the middle third in defence while new acquisition Matt Genero put in a player of the match performance in his first grand final.

Tiffany Hodson opened the scoring from a well worked blindside play from Slappers captain Jason West.

Too Out Of Touch hit back moments later with Ex-Taringa player Jack Newton crossing in similar fashion off a Matt Genero pass.

West would kick his side further ahead on the back of three repeat sets on the goal line. Slappers had all the running in the first 12 minutes and capitalised.

The tide of possession quickly changed when Leon Taylor scooped up a loose ball to run the length of the field and score.

Some shaky goal line defence gifted a two-point try to Eliza Mooney to give Too Out Of Touch their first lead of the match.

Slappers def by Too Out Of Touch

A 4-3 lead to Too Out Of Touch provided a much needed injection of confidence as the traditional post-half time grind kicked in.

South Brisbane Tigers’ playmaker Isaac Toohey got his side on the board first with a short grubber on the goal line.

Fatigue started to creep into the game as Slappers made some uncharacteristic errors from some of their most experienced men.

It took a slashing run by Angus Webster to bring the game alive inside the final five minutes.

Three sets of possession proved not enough as Too Out Of Touch held strong in the final stages.

Chris Honnery’s team managed to hold on to a gutsy 5-4 mixed win!
