Term 2 Game Day at Carseldine capped off an outstanding Sunday afternoon of touch footy!
The skills learned during the term were on full display from all participants, making games an exciting and appealing visual.
A Kick It 4 Kids first where kids were coached and played in age groups, with U13s, U11s and juniors matches played.
U13s teams from Carseldine and Toowong had the opportunity to play in two 30-minute games.
This was made possible by the inclusion of an u13s Mary MacKillop College team, consisting of girls from their term 2 junior touch football teams as part of the CASSSA sporting program.
The additional external local school team is part of our key growth goal specifically in the twelve and thirteen years age group.
It's a thrilling template that we will continue to use moving forward.
Skill Focus:
A strong focus for all age groups was rucking. Learning how to play the ball, the role of the dummy half and being available as a first receiver.
Juniors:
A repetitive focus on running and evasion, with and without the football. Being able to pass and catch on the run. Beating a defender one-on-one, or being able to touch the ball carrier in a one-on-one situation.
U11s
A goal was to build confidence with a draw and pass. How to execute a draw and pass in structured and semi structured environments. Touch on the basic movements of safe diving and the fundamental movements of different kick types - grubber, chip or drop kick.
U13s
Doubling down on rucking and fluency. Rucking in twos and threes. Performing a ruck and split near the goal line. A secondary aim was to work together as a team. Achieve two or more passes on touch 4 and 5. Putting these skills into a less structured 3-on-3 game simulation.
Term 3 come and try sessions available at Carseldine and Toowong from early July.
