Game Day capped off a tremendous end to term 3 with some fantastic footy on show for parents and friends.
The age groups that participants were placed in for each weekly session made up the teams for Game Day; and it showed.
Toowong in particular gelled well as a team with both juniors and U13 teams remaining undefeated on the day.
Carseldine age groups were split to cater for the increased numbers, with all four sides performing well as a group.
A special thank you to our coaches who were able to help out on the day, and make the kids feel more comfortable.
Term 3 skill focus:
A strong focus for all age groups was rucking. Learning how to play the ball, the role of the dummy half and being available as a first receiver.
Each age group touched on safe diving to limit injuries in try scoring situations.
Juniors:
A repetitive focus on running and evasion, with and without the football. Being able to pass and catch on the run. Beating a defender one-on-one, or being able to touch the ball carrier in a one-on-one situation. Build confidence in a draw and pass situation.
U13s
Rucking, splits and fluency. Rucking in twos and threes. Performing a ruck and split near the goal line. A secondary aim was to work together as a team. Achieve two or more passes on touch 4 and 5. Refining draw and pass efficiency and touching on the basic movements of all kick types - grubber, chip and drop kick.
Results
Well done to all participants in Sunday's game day event at Carseldine.
