Well done to the Falcons A team who went undefeated in the term 4 Game Day event at Toowong in December.

The entire Forest Lake coaching team is looking forward to a enjoyable term 1 program in early February.

Game Day Term 4 - Final word 16

Game Day Term 4 – Final word

The first Game Day event at Toowong was met with the hottest gala day to date.

Despite the hot conditions, we witnessed some tremendous touch footy matches across the age groups.

Term 4 was one of many firsts, including player jerseys, team logos, new sponsors, the introduction to touch footy program (for 4-6 year olds) and the inclusion of Forest Lake.

Over 130 registered kids across the three locations made for a fantastic term of touch footy.

The increased numbers gave a real team environment and made each weekly session enjoyable for the kids, and coaching team alike.

There was a strong skills focus on the very basics of touch footy. No matter the age group or team, catching, passing, agility and rucking were four common skills in activities.

Secondary skills such as kicking, diving and easy touch footy moves made for a fun variation to any session.

Perhaps the most notable was teamwork. Whether working together in pairs or larger groups; the focus in the vast majority of activities was getting involved and working together.

And it showed, with some highlight-reel performances on Sunday, December 8th at Toowong.

Sneaky Link claim maiden Toowong grand final victory

Sneaky secure grand final success

Sneaky Link have notched up their first division 1 grand final win at Toowong with a 6-1 victory over Slap Happy.

Overcoming a devastating 6-5 golden point loss to Untouchies a season ago, the local speeders proved to good for their adversaries, gliding past them in the semi finals.

The only team to beat Sneaky Link during the regular season, Multiple Scoregasms was knocked off by Slap Happy to progress through.

Debuting in 2023, Sneaky have quickly risen to the top of the competition on the back of a potent blend of speed, try scoring ability and traditional touch footy flare.

The grand final was dominated by their 2024 State of Origin stars with tries to Charlie Mills, Ben Slater (2) and Thomas Scott (2). The latter also notched up two try assists in a man of the match performance. Tom Hurwood also crossed for two tries.

Slap Happy's leading try scorer and try assist leader Corey Smith could only manage contribution, assisting an Aaron Fraser try.

An impressive showing from Sneaky Link, in particular the girls, AJ Tucker and Quinn Porceddu who both finished atop the women's try leaderboard for the second consecutive season.

Congratulations to Sneaky Link on their maiden grand final win! Plenty more to come.
