Toowong summer season concluded on Tuesday evening with Slap Happy have delivering in their maiden grand final appearance with a 2-0 win over Rampage.
The victory marks the first time Toowong has had a new champion since November 2020 – the eighteen-month period perviously dominated by Kickaholics Anonymous.
Rampage also made their first grand final appearance in over 12 months, boosted by the inclusion of plenty of Tigers’ representative stars.
The 2-0 result was not uncommon between these two teams with the pair settling on a 1-1 draw in the opening round of fixtures in February.
To reach the grand final, Rampage put in a flawless 9-1 performance against Multiple Scoregasms, while Slap Happy knocked Kickaholics out of finals contention with a 5-4 win in extra time.
Grand final player of the match Tom Lehmann proved the difference in just his fifth game of Kick It. The speedster opened the scoring by latching onto an errant pass Rampage’s captain with a clear passage to the try line 40m upfield.
Lehmann’s defence was critical, right up until the final play of the game where he blocked a game tying two-point girl try following an Antony Tatkovic line break.
Two-time Tigers’ Rep player Brett Coghill skipped through some loose middle defence to provide Slap Happy with their second try moments after half time.
The gutsy and gritty win is Slap Happy’s first since the defection of Slappers to North Brisbane in 2013.

Receeding Trylines have dismantled a gallant Misfits side in the Toowong division two final.
A squad that was struct by injuries and unavailable players, Receeding Trylines brought it together at the business end of the season and were never troubled.
A devastating performance by key middles Dan Hewitt and Toby helped pick apart the Misfits’ defence by combining for four tries and five try assists.
On the receiving end was Emmie Folan-Murphy who crossed for two tries as well as Murphy (2) and Lachlan Lang (1). Tigers mixed Representative Ethan Menchin chipped in with a try assist to Folan-Murphy to end the game.
The Misfits, missing their captain, tried in vane however were outmatched by the skill of their opponent.
Misfits looked dangerous with the ball when in the hands of middles Henry Waller and Kane Davidson, however they were unable to link with their speed men and talented girls out wide.
The grand final marks the first appearance for Misfits in a confidence building season as we head into winter season.
As for Receeding Trylines, their dominate display will push them into the higher bracket of teams for next season. The win marks their first victory in over 12 months, and since they were previously known as Mike Hunt.
