The West Brisbane Tigers have made it two Rep Cup mixed wins in a row with a nail biting extra time win over the Toowoomba Titans on Sunday.
Skipping out to a halftime 5-1 lead, the Titans rebounded with a massive second half onslaught to draw the scores level 6-6 at the end of regulation.
A quick try Emmie Folan-Murphy off a Christian Kereszteny pass gifted the Tigers’ a rare two-point girl try in their first set of extra time.
Tigers’ Nathan Cox sealed the win with a length of the field intercept; shades of his identical long-range try earlier in the game.
The victory extends the Tigers’ winning record dating back to the last Rep event at Toowong in September last year.
The Titans’ final appearance is the first since the 2020 Rep Cup in Brisbane when they went down to a stacked North Brisbane Sharks outfit.
An outstanding bounce-back campaign by the two-time mixed winners will set up one half of the Toowoomba crew for the next Rep carnival at Graceville in September.
Elsewhere, the Sharks put in plenty of effort in coming third. It was a tricky event with injuries and covid creating all sorts of problems. Five late inclusions devoid of big-game experience made combos difficult but will put them in good stead for future tournaments.
The Storm showcased a fun, social approach which was enjoyed by all, including their opponents. Laughs and team banter were the order of the day as they competed well in each match.

The Toowoomba Titans have reclaimed the Rep Cup mens title over the North Brisbane Sharks in a spirited grand final.
Long-time rivals have appeared in three of the past four mens finals with the Sharks coming away with three victories.
This time however, the Titans prevailed with a dominating 5-1 win.
After going through the pool matches undefeated, the Sharks champions went into the final as favourites.
A new-look Titans’ side who were slowing gelling throughout the event, played their best when it counted.
True to form and recent history, the first half proved a quality tussle with the Titans establishing a 2-1 lead at the break.
Some quality rucking and some subtle playmaking aided in their two first half tries.
A five-minute second half blitz that included three tries, two of whom off the back of Shark errors, helped guide the Titans’ side to victory.
With the Sharks ending the game with just seven healthy players, the result was sealed and the Titans’ posted a famous victory in front of plenty of home fans.
A big effort by the West Brisbane Tigers and Toowoomba Storm who finished third and fourth respectively.
