Misfits, Dodgers take out LIVIN charity Tournament

Misfits are the NEW LIVIN charity tournament champions after defeating Kickaholics Anonymous in a gutsy 3-0 performance on Sunday.

Representing the Toowoomba mixed competition, Misfits started out strong drawing their first two matches against Troopers and Bornlosers.

A third round pool match win against Burners and a 5-2 mixed/mens demolition of Dodgers secured their place in the top 4 as the second highest seeded team.

New South Wales Origin star Beau Hess backed up his Wednesday night performance with a four-try effort, while vice captain Racheal Parker notched up a couple of tries.

Kickaholics Anonymous stayed red-hot through the day going undefeated throughout the pool matches to finish on top of the ladder heading into finals.

Maroons’ captain Jess Sleep combined for two tries and two try assists, while Blues representative Isaac Mobbs and Bailey Cordery scored 3 tries of their own.

The third annual Kick It LIVIN charity tournament took place at Jack Cook Memorial Park, Taringa with a close-nit community feel featuring LIVIN co-founder Casey Lyons.

The goal was to raise awareness and vital funds for mental health and depression. Together with LIVIN, we can help kick the stigma associated with this debilitating disease one game at a time. Speak out. Nobody suffers alone.

A special thanks go to Ciaron from Cattledogs who organised a raffle at short-notice with all ticket sales donated back to LIVIN.

Misfits, Dodgers take out LIVIN charity Tournament 2
Sportsmanship on show between our mixed 2 finalists.

In their first Kick It Touch tournament, Dodgers’ showcased some solid traditional touch footy skills, speed and savvy defence as they defeated 2017 champions Spartans in their opening pool match.

2017 runners up Beau Knows were their next victim with a classy and hard-fought 3-2 win in trying conditions.

Playing a man down, Dodgers would go on to draw against mixed finalists Kickaholics Anonymous 5-5 before falling to Misfits 5-2 in the final pool match.

The Spartans endured a similar fate, losing just one pool match to finish second on for and against.

Mens top try scorer and Spartans’ captain Ben scored five of this team’s 13 tries. Beau Knows’ Christian Kereszteny and Nek Set’s Shaun Wickham finished the day tied on 5 tries.

The mens grand final would be a repeat of this morning’s mens match between Dodgers and Spartans.

Some tough rucking and rock-solid defence ensured some fiery and gutsy play.

The opportunistic Dodgers capitalised on a multitude of errors by Spartans’ to secure a 2-1 victory.

Taringa Autumn season - Next-Gen Untouchables

Four-Peat for Next-Gen Untouchables

Taringa champions Next-Gen Untouchables have made it four mixed grand final wins on the trot after defeating Burners 5-1 in the final on Tuesday night.

The result marks only the second time in Kick It history that a team has won four mixed titles in a row and the first at Taringa.

Next-Gen Untouchables also claimed the 2017 Cash Day tournament to make it a clean sweep over the last twelve months.

The Burners made it to their second grand final in as many seasons as the challengers hoped to end the streak of the green team.

Their trademark rucking style and scrambling defence was a feature early on as they held Untouchables scoreless in the opening 10 minutes.

It took a spark from Queensland Origin representative Bec Rophia to crack the Burners defence, before former Redcliffe representative Bronson Butler capitalised on the next possession.

It took until the 19th minute for Burners to post their first points after new New South Wales captain Joe Flannery pounced on a loose ball to dive over the line.

The 1-1 deadlock was broken early in the second half with Next-Gen Untouchables captain Tammy Haydock crossing for her first try.

After relentless pressure and a handful of repeat sets on the Burners goal line, Tammy crossed for her second to ice the game with just minutes left on the clock.

The Bermuda Bri-Angles defeated Footy McFootface 5-2 to secure their first mixed 2 crown since entering the competition in 2017.

In a match that featured two grand final rookies, the stage was set for an enthralling matchup.

New South Wales duo Alec McMaster and Archie Walter featured as the pair put on nice inside ball to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Man of the match Harry Elmes broke the game wide open early in the second half with a craft kick-and-chase to score before a couple of late tries sealed the victory.

It was a tremendous effort by Footy McFootface to make the grand final after being forced to play two semi-finals matches against Out Of Touch with both going to extra time.

Experienced David Curti found the try line and got a result for his side to lead them to the grand final match.
