Dugongs, Untouchies Take Out Toowong Autumn Season

Dugongs have captured their second Toowong Grand Final #2 victory in as many years with a 7-3 win over The Misfits.

A fantastic team performance saw eight members record a try or a try assist in the match.

Lead by player of the match and Country Origin representative Anthony Hanna, Dugongs pushed out to a quick lead and maintained it for the duration.

Not to be outdone, quality showings from Misfits' Henry Waller, captain Luke Sungar and Josie Fawckner kept their side in it.

A special moment on the final play of the game with Liam Sue diving over to score.

Liam has been playing Kick It since 2012, debuting for Drifters at Shaw Road. He retires on top for Dugongs!

Untouchies have won their 14th grand final at Toowong with an epic 6-5 win over Sneaky Link to kick-off winter season on Tuesday.

One of the tightest grand finals in years, the match spent over 8-minutes in extra time before a result was found.

Player of the match, and match winner Gerard Martin intercepted a Sneaky Link wrap play to race 40m to score.

A key cog two two tries in the match, Gerard's defence was what stood out with numerous big efforts to shut down Sneaky Link's ruck.

An early try to brother Tony Martin, and Gerard got Untouchies off to a fast start.

Sneaky captain Matt Jensen crossed soon after, before Jaz Martin went in for his first try to blow the scores out to 4-1.

Queensland Origin representative Charlie Mills showcased his speed and footwork to break up the Untouchies' stone wall defence to notch up his first try.

Sneaky Link quick-men Gus McGregor an Tom Scott made cameos before succumbing to injury moments before halftime.

Untouchies' Lincoln Redgen skipped through some sluggish goal line defence early in the second.

Then, one of the more gutsy second half performances unfolded with a string of tries to Charlie Mills and Ben Slater.

With one sub, and two minutes left of the clock, Sneaky Link had tied up the scores.

In a new adaption to extra time, both teams started with six players, before dropping one male at the 4th and 5th minute mark.

The four-on-four match up finished up with a Gerard Martin pet-play as he snuffed out the third attempted wrap play of extra time.

Toowong Summer Champs: Sneaky Link, Multiple Scoregasms

Sneaky Link have claimed their first Toowong grand final title with an enthralling 5-4 win over Nims Trims to conclude summer season on Tuesday.

In their third season of Kick It, Sneaky claimed a grinding 2-0 semi final win over 13-time champs Untouchies.

Nims found a path through via a 7-3 defeat of last year's two-time champions, Slap Happy.

In a match that featured plenty of mateship and competitive spirit, Nims took an early lead through Gus McGregor and Calum Sharkey.

Try assist leader Ben Davies put Calum away to bring up his 20th try assist through the fixture and final matches.

Sneaky Link's Ben Slater got his team on the board through some individual brilliance, before a long-term try to Darcy Large slammed home an early 3-1 lead at the break.

Scoring 21 tries and five assists between them, the Sneaky Link girls in AJ Tucker and Quinn Porceddu began to take charge through ruck and splits.

The pair combined once again on a split to bring the scores level.

Ben Slater notched up his second try of the match moments later to ensure the momentum stayed with the newcomers.

A back-and-forwards 6-minute series culminated in numerous near-tries.

Sneaky's line would break as Will McIntre dived over from the wing to bring the scores level with three minutes remaining.

The joy was short-lived, and within 2 sets, Sneaky drove down the field to camp in opposition territory.

Charlie Mills sealed the win hitting a hole off a Thomas Scott short ball.

Well done to both teams and the comradery shown!

Slap Happy, Multiple Scoregasms close out 2023 as champions

Slap Happy have won their second division 1 grand final with a heart-stopping victory over Nims Trims on Tuesday night.

A final play kick from Aaron Fraser into the in-goal for Emmie Folan Murphy pushed Slap Happy ahead on the scoreboard that failed to move during the second half.

The two division one wins, plus a division two triumph cap off a successful year for the team in pink.

Nims Trims made successive grand finals for the first time in their history.

The strong performance, despite the loss puts them in great stead for an epic 2024!

Try assist leader and key playmaker Ben Davies got his side on the board quickly with a short grubber from outside 5m to score.

He played a huge role in the next try with a shallow cross kick to speedster Gus McGregor, who evaded three players to run down the sideline to score.

A much improved level of control provided plenty of opportunities for Nims Trims as they kept Slap Happy in their own end regularly.

Back-to-back errors provided the experienced Slap Happy with chances attacking the goal line.

A wonderful cross kick by Justin Noonan landed in the hands of Madi Hampson to touchdown in the corner.

The two point girl try equated for Nims' early onslaught, with little respite.

On-field captain Will McIntre crossed moments before half time from a short grubber and 2-on-1 pass from Finn Roberts.

The 3-2 scoreline at halfback was indicative of the game.
Strong defence, sound kicking and playing high percentage, field position footy.

The second half proved to be no different with numerous goal line stands by Slap Happy as Nims' turned the screws and forced six repeat sets.

Errors and long-range shots gifted the green machine with plenty of field position as fatigue and injuries came into the game.

Perhaps most telling was the effort plays in warm conditions. The effort areas, while executed, zapped plenty of energy.

A late error and rare field position for two sets with less than two minutes in the game set up the result for Slap Happy.

The start of the second set, Emmie Folan-Murphy pounced on a grubber in the in-goal to ice the game.
Classic game! Well done to both teams involved.

Multiple Scoregasms have claimed their second division two win of 2024 with an emphatic win over newcomers Sneaky Link.

Boasting just six players, Sneaky Link performed extremely well given the humid conditions.

Key players Ben Slater and Matt Jensen combined well, while leading womens try score AJ Tucker lead the team in line breaks (3).

In just their second season, it was a fantastic achievement to reach a grand final - no doubt the appearance sets them up for a stellar 2024.

Experience and exuberance played an incredible part in one of Multiple Scoregasms' best performances of the year.

Player of the match Bryce Thompson starred with two early tries and one assist to leading women's try scorer Ivie Vallance.

State of Origin representative Will Smith proved a difference maker in the middle as he set up Ivie for her second try. His work through the middle helped create opportunities on the edge for plenty of players.

From the on-set Scoregasms took the lead and were never headed. Congratulations!
