Titans Sweep 2019 Rep Tournament

Toowoomba Titans have snared the double at the 2019 Kick It Representative Tournament at Taringa on Sunday.

The reigning mens champions cruised to victory, while the Titans mixed side re-claimed the title from the North Brisbane Sharks in their respective finals.

The clean sweep marks the second time the Toowoomba team has taken the honour and the third occasion it has been done in the tournament’s history.

Toowoomba is tipped to host the 2020 tournament following recent success.


Titans mens ran the table once again to claim their third successive mens championship, defeating North Brisbane Sharks in a hotly contested final.

Representative player Beau Hess was once again the star scoring twice and saving just as many as the Titans ran in five tries to one.

Tries to captain Ben Burstow, Roderick Robertson and Jono Graff sealed the famous win over a gutsy, but fading Sharks outfit.

P-Dub speedster Sam Gadsby scored his sides lone try as the North Brisbane representatives made their first final since 2012.

LGM’s Jackson Patton (3) and Jesse Ripley (3) helped guide their side into the finals, while Joey’s top try scorer Corey Pocock also chipped in with three tries.

The South Brisbane Tigers failed to make the finals for the first time in the competition history.

An early 2-2 draw against the Storm was all in vain as the Titans and Sharks ran in 10 tries to sink their finals hopes. It was the Tigers worst defensive performance to date.

New South Wales Blues representative Jacob McMahon lead his side in scoring with two tries.

Toowoomba Storm brought up the rear and performed admirably baring a heavy defeat to the Titans in the final pool game.

Lead by Martin Baldo, the Storm captain ran in three tries to top his side’s points scoring.

Titans mixed secured their second Representative Tournament championship with a fast-finishing 9-4 victory over former mixed titleholders the Sharks.

Boasting a handful of key personnel from their 2018 squad, the Titans ran in six tries to four including three girl tries.

Their path to the finals wasn’t has clear-cut as the mens side.

Two draws in the opening two matches against the Sharks and Tigers aided in their plight to reach the finals.

A 13-2 victory against adversaries the Storm, rubber-stamped their finals spot.

Similarly, the Sharks overcame a gallant Tigers’ side in the final must-win pool game to process to the last dance for the fourth consecutive tournament.

Sam Carmody continued his strong form throughout the day to set up two tries and score two of his own in the final.

Sarah Breydon crossed for two, while the talented Jemma Whitney also scored late to seal the victory.

Early Shark tries to David Cumming and Jake Coolwell were not enough as the Titans overcame the deficit.

Historic LIVIN Legends matches

For the first time the Rep Tournament hosted seperate mens and womens LIVIN Legends matches.

The matches are to create awareness for mental health and depression, while showcasing some of the best players at Kick It.

The Titans and Storm formed the LIVIN Legends Toowoomba side, while the Tigers and Sharks bounded together for Brisbane.

Brisbane Women ran out 3-0 victors over the Toowoomba ladies with two tries to reigning Taringa and Stafford top try scorer Eliza Mooney and Rampage’s Annaleis Tatkovic.

The Toowoomba men faired much better with the boys from the range notching up five tries to one. Beau Hess (2), Ben Burstow Josh Brunner and Alick Gaske all crossed to close out a memorable event.
